MAYOR of Warrington Cllr. Steve Wright hosted a special Civic Reception to celebrate 125 years of Warrington Male Voice Choir.

The Choir’s last Civic Reception by a Mayor of Warrington at the Town Hall was in 1994 when they were celebrating being crowned National Champions.

A Warrington Male Voice Choir spokesperson said: “We were honoured to be given a Civic Reception by the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Steve Wright at the Town Hall in Warrington.

“We were given the Civic Reception in recognition of the choir’s 125 years of history, competition success and our charitable endeavours.
“The last time we were given a Civic Reception was exactly 30 years ago when the choir won the National Championships.
“The Mayor gave us a lovely warm, enthusiastic welcome. Our Chairman, Craig Bunting, in return, thanked the Mayor and his office for inviting and hosting us this afternoon.
“We also got to sing a couple of songs for the Mayor in the Council Chambers followed by afternoon tea.
“Lots of memories and stories were shared along with lots of laughter.”
