WARRINGTON Town have sold long-serving midfielder Bohan Dixon to Macclesfield for an undisclosed fee.

Dixon, 34, was out of contract at the end of the season and so the Yellows have decided to cash in on the popular figure after he received an offer he couldn’t refuse from the Northern Premier League side.

A Warrington Town club statement said: “Although the club didn’t want Bohan to leave, given he is out of contract at the end of the season, we gave him permission to talk to the Silkmen.

“At the age of 34, the offer put on the table to Dixon until the end of next season to significantly increase his wage was one he felt he couldn’t turn down.

“As a result, the club has been able to negotiate a fee for his services for the remainder of this season.”

Dixon made his debut in September 2018 and went on to make 196 appearances for the Yellows, the last of which coming in Saturday’s 2-1 National League North win over Chorley.

His departure follows the exit of long-serving defender Mitch Duggan last week.

Warrington Town are next in action at home to Boston United on Saturday.
