WARRINGTON-based charity The Land Trust has appointed Professor Janet Haddock-Fraser as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees, taking over from William Hiscocks who served four years as Chair and a total of nine years on the Board of Trustees.
Professor Janet Haddock-Fraser has been a member of the Land Trust’s Board of Trustees for six years and brings with her a deep understanding of how the Trust operates along with a strong vision for its future, building on the hard work and dedication of her predecessor.
With a 25-year career in universities, previous trustee positions at the Campaign for Protection of Rural England and Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges, and an MSc and PhD in Environmental Management from the University of Hong Kong amongst other achievements, Janet brings substantial, varied experience and expertise to the Land Trust Board, which she joined in 2017.
In tandem with this appointment, Janet is also a Defra-appointed Member of the Peak District National Park Authority and also Chair of the Regional Advisory Group for the National Trust in the North of England.
Alongside this, Janet is personally passionate about the objectives of the Land Trust, namely around the environment, sustainability and climate change and social value creation – areas which the charity seeks to increase its impact and influence over the coming years.
Janet takes over following a very successful year at the Land Trust, which saw the charity deliver £34m in social value and take on six new sites, as well as publishing a five-year business plan which sets out a strong vision for the future, focused on delivering increased charitable outcomes.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the last six years as a member of the Land Trust Board and look forward to taking up the role of Chair as both the ambitions of the Trust, along with the social value it delivers, continue to grow.”
