WARRINGTON Hip Hop journalist Andy Moffatt says it is the “biggest achievement” of his career after discovering his work features in the official biography of murdered rapper Tupac Shakur.
Andy, who has previously secured world exclusive interviews surrounding the long-running case features in the first and only official authorised biography Tupac Shakur: The Authorized Biography, which was released in October 2023.
An article he wrote in 2021 has made it into this prestigious book.
In Tupac Shakur: The Only Authorized Biography, author and screenwriter Staci Robinson-who knew Tupac as a young man and who was entrusted by his mother, Afeni Shakur, to write his biography-peels back the myths and unpacks the complexities that have shadowed Tupac’s existence.
With exclusive access to his private notebooks, letters, unpublished lyrics and uncensored conversations with those who knew and loved him best, Robinson tells a powerful story of a life defined by politics and art, and a man driven by equal parts brilliance and impulsiveness.
Andy said: “At that very point, I froze for a few minutes and the penny dropped that my work is included in Tupac Shakur’s first and only authorised biography!!!”
“My work has been cited and referenced many times in the past, but for my work to be recognised on this scale and magnitude is beyond words! To find out at the very end of the book too, after being gripped for the past week, is special.
“This is the biggest achievement in Hip Hop journalism career. I would like to personally thank and extend my gratitude to Staci Robinson, Jamal Joseph and Tupac’s family for choosing to use a small part of my work for this prestigious book. If there is one book to purchase about Tupac Shakur, this is the one!”
