RAPE and sexual abuse charity, RASASC, has secured £259,869 from The National Lottery Community Fund to drive their new 5-year project aimed at providing essential wellbeing support to survivors of sexual violence across Cheshire and Halton.

The newly funded project will provide person-centred support to survivors and places a strong emphasis on recovery, healing and social inclusion. It features a comprehensive program that offers activities and groups directly related to both physical and mental health, such as walking, mindfulness, gardening and creative writing.
Julie Evans, Director of Operations at RASASC shared her excitement about this incredible opportunity: “We are extremely grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for their generous support.
“The heart of this initiative lies in creating a safe space for survivors to connect and rebuild their lives. The new groups will be free and aim to be a fun and creative way of supporting survivors to improve their confidence and self-esteem, reduce feeling of isolation and depression, develop coping strategies and create stronger sense of connection with like-minded individuals.”

These groups are set to launch in early 2024 and information will be shared via the charity’s website and social media channels. They will run alongside the core services RASASC currently provides for children, young people and adults across Cheshire and Merseyside, including specialist counselling, pre-trial therapy and their independent sexual violence advisor (ISVA) service.
If you are a survivor who is interested in being kept updated about the progress of these groups, or, if you are a community group or venue interested in supporting this project, please contact RASASC directly at [email protected]
