POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two people were seriously injured following a two-car collision which closed the M62 near Birchwood, Warrington on Sunday afternoon.
Shortly before 12pm on Sunday 24 September police were called to reports of a collision on the M62 eastbound between junction 10 and 11.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended the scene and found the collision involved two cars, a blue Kia Niro and a black Nissan Qashqai.
“On arrival, officers found that the driver of the Qashqai had fled the scene. Two passengers from the vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“The occupant of the Niro was checked at the scene by paramedics and did not require hospital treatment.

Three fire engines from Warrington, Birchwood and Leigh (GMFRS) attended at the scene. The crews were at the scene for around 90 minutes.
