170 dwellings planned for Green Belt land at Lymm

AN outline plan for up to 170 dwellings – including about 51 affordable homes – on Green Belt land at Lymm has been submitted to Warrington Borough Council.

The site includes three fields, totalling 2.24 hectares on either side of Warrington Road, Lymm.

Applicants Gladman Developments Ltd have already consulted Lymm Parish Council, local borough councillors and MP Andy Carter.
A number of concerns have already been raised, including road safety issues at Statham Primary School, which adjoins the site, and the use of Green Belt land.
However, the applicants say the site is identified in the emerging Warrington Local Plan, as being suitable for removing from the Green Belt for housing.
Gladman say the scheme would include structural landscape planting and the retention and positive management of key landscape features.
There would be about 2.79 hectares of green infrastructure, including amenity space, a new woodland belt and recreational routes. Tree-lined streets are envisaged within the development. Most existing trees on the site would be retained.

There would be pedestrian links to Warrington Road and the Trans Pennine Trail including a new footpath connecting to the footpath outside Statham Primary School.
Heavy screening would be provided between the site and the nearby Statham Lodge Hotel.
An existing public footpath across the site links Warrington Road to the Trans Pennine Trail and the Bridgewater Canal.
The proposals are currently being considered by Warrington borough council planning officers.
