THE Summer festival trend continues in Warrington ‘music town’ with another event over the August Bank Holiday weekend at The Pickering Arms in Thelwall.

Manager Helen Riley has only been in the post 8 months and following positive feedback after hosting bands and solo artists at the pub she thought it would be good to give something back to the community. As a keen music fan herself what could be better than a free festival for all!
Step forward Music Festival organiser and Independent record label owner – Nick Quirk and partner Clare Gunes. Both live local to the pub and are extremely enthusiastic about the event but the feelings of the community are a prority.

After all, Thelwall is a small , historic and pretty village and to this end the complete festival (barring free car parking) is confined to the grounds of the pub and band curfew is 9pm when D.J sets must move inside.
Despite the emphasis on music , manager Helen is keen to point out that this is a family occasion, and with childrens entertainment and crafts provided by ‘Bubbles and Brushes’ with the likelihood of sweet treats and hot dogs this is truly an all-inclusive event.
The adults of course, can rely on the outside and inside bars, a wood fired pizza van , a bbq and further food served inside the pub whilst enjoying 14 musical acts over the 2 days ranging from Ska, Rock, Indy, Blues and Electro acoustic soloists. Looking at the festival flyer there are some excellent acts lined up by Nick!

Remembering that this is a free event it might be worthwhile arriving in good time as entry may have to be contolled if the visiting numbers are high. So, let’s all hope for dry weather at the very least and keep your eye on the Pickering Arms Facebook site for the event line- up and timings which will be published shortly.
Finally , if any local business wishes to support the costs of the event and be a sponsor then please get in touch with Helen soon . Assistance in any way will be appreciated.
