Plans to revamp the beer garden at popular pub

PLANS to revamp the beer garden at a popular Warrington pub have been submitted to the borough council’s planning department.

The scheme at the Dog and Partridge, in Mancheser Rad, would redecorat existing external deckig to the front of the pub and in the beer garden with tall timber posts and a new, raised covered pergola to the rear of the building.
There would also be a new bin store to the rear and west of the building.

Planners have been told the proposal is part of a rebrand by pub company Greene King and their Hive pub brand which aims to attract new customers to the venue.
The Dog and Partridge is already a popular pub, serving drink and meals indoors and also offering outdoor seating with picnic benches.
The developers recognise that the pub is near the woolstonEyes Site of Special Scientific Interest but as they are separated from it by Manchester Road they do not see the scheme as being any threat to wildlife.
Although the pub site is in a “high risk” category from surface water, the new pergola is to be raised well above ground level and there are also large soak-away areas of grass to the south and east of the building.
As a result, the developers do not consider flooding to be an issue.
