UPDATED: ALL lanes have now been re-opened on the M6 near Warrington after a lorry overturned causing a diesel leak.
The incident led to lengthy traffic delays across Warrington for much of the day and 90 minute delays on the M6 while lanes remained closed during the clean up operation.
Shortly after 5pm today the Highways Agency announced all lanes were now re-opened, although work is still ongoing.
At 05:37 three fire crews and a major rescue unit attended reports of a lorry overturning on M6 southbound between junction 20 and 19 near Lymm
The crews got one casualty from the vehicle and handed them into the care of paramedics. A diesel leak from the vehicle was dealt with by the crews who notified the Environment Agency.
Two lanes of the carriageway remain closed throughout the morning durign recovery and clean up operations. The incident resulted in lengthy delays on local roads this morning.
Then in another incident at 7:04 on the M6 northbound between junctions 20 to 21 near Appleton Thorn, two fire crews attended reports of a car colliding with the central reservation.
One casualty was able to remove themselves from the vehicle and into the care of paramedics.
Update – Clean up has been completed and all lanes are now open on the #M6 southbound between J20 and J19 near #Warrington.
Emergency repairs are still ongoing but are now confined to the hard shoulder so please take care as you pass the scene.
