WARRINGTON Youth Zone has celebrated its first birthday by thanking their supporters and volunteers who have helped make it a great success story for the town, with over 9,000 members now signed up.
Birthday celebrations included live bands, lots of activities and cake at the purpose built facility which embraced the long-running Warrington Youth Club.
Tom Jovett, the Head of youth work, shared some of the parts of their life, saying: “Warrington youth club was started many years ago, and that was for people to come and express themselves.
“Onside is charity that runs nationally, and they open youth centres like this all across the country.”
“Warrington Youth Club tbecame a part of this network about ten years ago. Youth centres were an important part of town life for years, though having much lesser facilities.
Nowadays, more than hundred volunteers provide young people with the best help they can.”
Sophie Bentley, Head of Fundraising said :”Our average running cost is about £7,500 pounds each day to cover the premises and to provide what we do for children and young people.
“But we think that the outcome is much more worthy and actually invaluable. We raise our fundings through variety of ways. We are keen to get the community involved. Without their generosity and their support, we wouldn’t be able to continue it in the great way we do.”
The facility has a membership of over 9,000 who pay £5 a year to be a member and 50p on each visit to help toward the running costs.
