With £205 million in budget cuts since 2010, the council must save a further £13m by 2024 despite rampant inflation rates and costs of service delivery increasing.
Due to be Co-hosted by Cllr Mitchell and the council’s Deputy Chief Executive, Lynton Green, the event aimed to give people the opportunity to find out more about the council’s budget plans and how it plans to continue supporting the town’s residents, businesses and wider communities.

Cllr Mitchell said at the time the event was announced: “Having experienced £205 million in budget cuts since 2010, we must save at least a further £13 million by 2024. This year, with rampant inflation rates and costs of service delivery increasing, presenting a balanced budget for many councils will be a challenge.
“We will use the business breakfast event as an opportunity to discuss our approach to balancing our budget this financial year, alongside getting your views on your priorities for the year ahead.
“It’s vital that the council’s relationship with local businesses and residents remains strong. This event will therefore give us the opportunity to set out our plans to businesses and residents, giving us the opportunity to forge new links and share ideas.”
