School celebrates 12 months of being a “Bread and Butter Thing” hub

WARRINGTON’S Dallam Primary School is celebrating a year of being a hub for The Bread and Butter Thing – the charity that takes nutritious food to needy communities.

The mobile food club gives access to nutritious and affordable food for families struggling because of the cost of living crisis.

Its low-cost weekly shop provides essential produce for family eating – fresh fruit and vegetables, fridge favourites and cupboard staples from high street supermarkets, food manufacturers and farmers.

A charity spokesperson said: We never know what we’re going to get from day to day, which means each week the bags of food will be different. But it is always quality, fresh produce.
“You will probably need to top up from the shops as well, but our food will go a long way to helping you feed your family affordably.
“We want to strengthen communities and help make life more affordable.”
Our picture shows Rachael Wilson, family liaison lead at Dallam Primary School, with the volunteers who work there, celebrating a year of being a hub for the Bread and Butter Thing.

But there are five Bread and Butter Things hubs in Warrington, operating on different days of the week: They are:
