Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after death of 31-year-old man at Bewsey

A 44-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 31-year-old man at Bewsey, Warrington, last night.

Police were called to Yardley Avenue at around 10:45 pm last night (Thursday) following reports of a man sustaining serious injuries. He later sadly died.

The area remains taped off with police investigations ongoing.
Police patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 10.44pm on Thursday 22 December police were called to an address in Yardley Avenue in Bewsey and Whitecross following reports of a man with serious injuries. The 31-year-old man was taken to hospital but sadly died.
“A 44-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. A scene remains in place and enquiries are continuing in the area.”

Detective Chief Inspector Adam Waller said: “I understand this will cause some concern in the community. We have made an arrest and are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances.
“Patrols have been increased to provide reassurance while we investigate this incident.”
