Charity group learners became reporters for a day

LEARNERS at the Walton Lea Partnership – a Warrington charity supporting people with learning difficulties – became reporters for a day when they interviewed chief social worker for England Lyn Romeo.

She was visiting Warrington Borough Council’s adult social care services when the Walton Lea team put questions to her and took photographs of her day with the council.

Lyn told the learners that her favourite part of her job is meeting people and getting good support for the things that really matter.
She also stressed the importance of encouraging people to be the best they can be. – and shared the information that she will spend Christmas with friends and family.
The interview will appear in the Christmas issue of a newsletter produced by the learners for the learners at Walton Lea Partnership.
Three learners, Betty , Phoebe and Michael explained to Lyn about their work activities on-site at Walton Lea, which supports around 75 people adults with learning disabilities) before presenting her with some handmade crafts.
Jackie Sweeney, adults principal social worker for Warrington Borough Council, said, “ Lyn really enjoyed meeting them all and told us that she’d had a great day and learnt a lot about the things being done to support people in Warrington.”
