Three fire crews tackle car fire on M62 near Burtonwood

THREE fire crews were called out to tackle a car fire on the M62 near Burtonwood, Warrington, earlier today.

Shortly after 9.30 am crews from Penketh, Birchwood and Warrington attended the incident on the M62, east between junctions 8 and 9

A car on fire on the hard shoulder of the M62 was extinguished by firefighters using a hose reel. The fire was well alight and the eastbound side of the motorway was closed while the incident was dealt with.

There were no reports of any injuries and the motorway has since re-opened.
