Man arrested after town centre stabbing incident

A man has been arrested after a town centre stabbing incident during the early hours of this morning which resulted in an injured man being taken to hospital and the town hall public car park being cordoned off.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident which resulted in a 36-year-old local man being taken to hospital with a puncture wound to his thigh.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 12.15am on Monday 13 June police were contacted by ambulance to reports that a man had been found injured on Kendrick Street, Warrington.

“Officers attended the scene and found that a 36-year-old local man had sustained a puncture wound to his thigh. He has since been taken to hospital.

“Enquiries in relation to how the man sustained the injury are ongoing. As part of the investigation, a 36-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.”
