Grappenhall make it four wins in a row

GRAPPENHALL made it four wins in a row with a 45-run victory at Lindow in the RSK Cheshire County League.
As a result they maintained their much improved position at number four in the division one table.
Asked to bat first, Grappers lost two quick wickets but recovered thanks to fine innings from Edward Barnes 64 and Ben Botha, 48.
Barnes’ belligerent knock included a six and 13 fours and helped the side to total 171 all out in 44.3 overs.
Despite some late hitting by the tail, Lindow never looked like getting the runs and were all out in the 35th over for 126.
Barnes followed up his batting performance with 4-30 and Ian Hall and Joshua Hayes picked up two wickets each.
The 2nd XI game at Broad Lane went Lindow’s way. Grappenhall were held to 147-9 and the visitors reached their target with two wickets to spare.
Lewis Porter and Ross Arrowsmith each scored 29 for Grappers while James Knowles took 4-21.
Warrington lost by eight wickets at Haslington.
Electing to bat first they were dismissed for 155, with skipper Ashley Scholes dominating the innings with a superb innings of 86. But he got little support with James Rudd, 18, the only other batsman to reach double figures.
Haslington strolled to victory in 25.4 overs for the loss of only two wickets.
Warrington 2nd went down by five wickets at home to Alvanley.
After being put in, they were dismissed for a disappointing 105, Rabbi Sabba top scoring with 44. The visitors reached their target in the 37th over.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park recovered from a poor start to win by 48 runs, hosting Langley.
Losing the toss they were put in and were struggling at 27-3 before the middle and lower order batsmen rallied to enable them to reach the comparative respectability of 175.
Andrew Potter hit 43, Phil Whelan 27 and Liam Ramsbottom 21.
The visitors also struggled from the start and although at 97-3 they had made a good recovery the later batsmen could not handle the Lymm attack and the side were all out for 127.
Zaheer Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 3-33.
Appleton romped to an 86-run victory at home to Wistaston Village.
They were asked to bat first and responded by hitting 172-9 in 45 overs.
Wesley Jenkins top scored with n53, Ed Sygrove hit 31 and Amir Aslam 26 not out.
Wistaston were bowled ut for 86, Aslam picking up five wickets and Alex Warham three.
Appleton 2nd went down by 22 runs at Neston after the homed side had hit a challenging 212-5.
The Appleton batsmen hit back with a brave 190, Richard Buck 52, Phil Mansfield 33 and Guy Colligan 30.
Appleton 3rd won by four wickets at Hawk Green after dismissing the home side for 157. Michael Cumberland took 5-34 and Danish Quayyum 4-8.
Appleton lost six wickets reaching their target, Paul White hitting 42, Harry Sygrove 36 and wicket keeper Jake Rudwick, 30.
Appleton 4th lost at home to Winnington Park after being bowled out for 71. The visitors lost only one wicket reaching their target.
Glazebury won by 34 runs at home to league-leaders Bowdon Vale despite being bowled out for 104, with Anthony Meulman hitting 20 and Sam Stanier and Sean Caine 19 apiece.
The visitors had no answer to the pace of Stanier, 7-22, and were all out for 70.
Glazebury 2nd lost by 125 runs at Cheadle Hulme after the home side had hit 170. Glazebury subsided to 45 all out.
