Twins embark on latest fund-raising marathon “Swimming the Channel”

WARRINGTON twins Ruben and Elena Evans-Guillen have embarked on their latest fund-raising adventure, swimming the equivalent of the English Channel, to help raise much-needed funds for Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

Ruben & Elena, who have already raised over £46,000 for various other charities, are now raising funds this year by ‘Swimming the Channel’ by swimming 1,352 lengths of swimming pool, being the equivalent distance.

Funds raised will go towards a much need Animal Barn project the Children’s Aventure Farm Trust at Litle Bollington near Lymm.

The Animal Barn is an exciting new project which will see CAFT replacing their unsightly, dilapidated polytunnel with a new small wooden barn which will make a huge difference in so many ways. Currently the charity struggles with shelter around their animal areas, meaning that in poor weather they find it difficult to give the children an opportunity to spend time with their many interesting animals – including alpacas, goats, sheep and donkeys.

This new agricultural building will provide the perfect area for ill, disabled and socially disadvantaged children to feed, pet and experience important therapy time with the charity’s animals – a vital part of any visit to CAFT. The Barn will also provide a warm, protected space – a ‘nursery’ – for young animals and small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs who need a little extra warmth during the colder months. Replacing the old polytunnel with this new barn will be much more in-keeping with the charity’s beautiful, natural surroundings, and will help them to continue to provide once in a lifetime experiences for children with additional needs from our region”.

Since 2017 Ruben and Elena’s charitable fundraising journey has now raised over £46,000.00 for North West NHS-Related Charities and for many other regional charities. This has been achieved by undertaking many monumental physical activity charity campaigns including running, cycling, trekking and swimming over several hundred kilometres including a wide range of voluntary and humanitarian work in their communities and helping drive change to raise positive awareness of ADHD. This has been an inspiriting momentous programme of incredible effort very befitting of their charity projects and beneficiaries. They have supported a number of Charities including MedEquip4Kids, Warrington & Halton Hospital Charity, Warrington Youth Club, Active Cheshire, Peeps-HIE, Warrington Foodbank and Room At the Inn.

Last year the twins received a special Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister for raising over £35,000 for NHS-related charities over the past four years.

The twins, who have ADHD, have channelled their energy into raising funds for NHS related charities over the past four years by taking on sponsored treks and challenges.
