Grappers pick up first win of the season

GRAPPENHALL picked up their first win of the season with a comfortgable seven wicket win at home to Alvanley.
The visitors were asked to bat first and were dismissed for a lowly 98, with Leicestershire bowler Eddie Barnes – brother of skipper Barnes – taking 4-38 and Aussie Nick Woods taking 3-20
Grappers chased down the total with little alarm, for the loss of 3 wickets with Kieran Lawton finishing on 44 not out.
Grappenhall 2nd got the best of a drawn game at Upton.
Batting first Grappers posted a below par 153- 9 off their 50 overs with captain Graeme Rowlands contributing 41.
Upton never really got in the hunt and were hanging on, 33 runs short and nine wickets down at the end
Grappenhall 3rd’s tough start to the season continued with a heavy defeat to Heaton Mersey.
Grappers batted first and were dismissed for just 74, Lloyd Milligan top scoring with 23. Heaton Mersey made short work of the target in just 23 overs but Grappers did pick up four wickets along the way.
Finally, Grappenhall Over 40’s made it two wins from two games as they beat Davenham away by 11 runs.
Warrington lost by four wickets after being bowled out for 159 at Hale Barns.
Opener Richard Lyons hit 40 and Patrick Tyrrell 35, while skipper chipped in with 25.
But the home side cantered to victory in the 43rd over for the loss of six wickets.
Muhammad Abid was the pick of the bowlers with 3-40.
Warrington 2nd bowled out the Hale Barnes second string for 115 at Walton Lea with Rishek Manta taking 4-5.
They lost four wickets reaching theior target, with Ravi Sabb top scoring with 33.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park won by three wickets at Knutsford.
The home side were dismissed for 120 and Lymm replied with 122-7.
Glazebury lost by nine wickets at Bowdon Vale after being bowled out for 166 in 44.2 overs.
Andy Calvert top scored with 47 and Dave Nicholson hit 28.
Sam Stanier dismissed the Bowdon skipper for a second-ball duck, but after that the home side batsmen raced to victory.
