More delays on M56 following lorry fire

THERE were more delays on the M56 near Warrington today when a lorry caught fire on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12 for Runcorn and Preston Brook.

Shortly after 10am four fire crews were called to a heavy goods vehicle on fire on the M56. The fire involved the tractor unit and trailer and was extinguished by firefighters using two hose reels. The motorway was closed while the fire was dealt with.

There were severe delays in the area with traffic queuing for up to five miles.
