Pamper your furry friends this National Pet Month!

You may or may not be aware, but April is National Pet Month (NPM). As well as celebrating everything wonderful about your furry friends, it also has a greater meaning too.

NPM raises awareness of responsible pet ownership, shares interesting facts and figures, hosts fundraisers for charity and shares the love for our beloved pets.

Every pet owner will understand, your little pal is your life. Everything from crisp morning walks, to cuddles on the sofa and watching them sleep peacefully brings ultimate joy. Naturally, we all spoil our pets – how can we not?! But, what better excuse to splash the cash once again than NPM. However, this NPM let us think outside the box and enrich our pets’ lives in more ways than one. Here’s how we can do just that.

Being a responsible pet owner

The pandemic gave everyone time and space to see their immediate families (perhaps too much time). So, many people decided that whilst they were at home, they’d take advantage and get a pet. Whilst this was okay during the pandemic, two years on and animal shelters have been inundated with lockdown pets that need a new home. Unfortunately, working is just part of life. However, getting a pet is a responsibility and one that doesn’t come lightly. So, we must treat our pets with the love and respect they deserve.oever HOwve

Offering our pets enrichment time can be vital for their growth and development. Taking your pets out for one walk a day, in most instances, it’s enough to stimulate their brain. So, taking the time to learn how to play with your pets is a vital skill we should all learn. Adding this into your schedule will not only benefit your pet, but it’ll be extremely therapeutic for you as well.

Upgrade your pets’ belongings

Your pet comes with a lot of clobbers, and this can be expensive – so be sure to do your research and look for the best places to buy from – especially when you can benefit from NHS discounts. If you’re starting from scratch, don’t feel you need to buy everything from the same place as this might not benefit you financially. Don’t rush into things and do your research.

Read around the breed of animal you’ve got. Find out which toys will work best for them and then you’ve got your answer. Not only will they love their new gift, but it’ll also tire them out – making your life easier!

If you’ve already got everything you could need and more, why not make the switch to sustainable materials? Making those small changes can have a huge impact on the environment. And, how cool is it to say your pet is environmentally conscious too?!
