THE residents’ association at Warrington’s Ryfields Retirement Village has secured £6,250 of lottery funding to buy a new piece of specialist equipment for the on-site gym.

A new Medi-Bike – designed to support people with mobility issues – has been purchased to replace one which was no longer serviceable.
The retirement village is owned and managed by Your Housing Group, with the onsite gym leased to Paul Warburton.  It is free for residents to use and the local community can also use the facilities for a small fee.
To secure funding, the management team from Ryfields supported the Residents Association in applying for a National Lottery grant. They were successful and were awarded £6,250 to purchase a new Medi-Bike.
Danielle McCann, operations manager for Ryfields Retirement Village said: “The wellbeing of our residents is really important to us, and having a gym on-site makes that facility readily accessible. It is important to have a range of equipment suitable for everyone, and this Medi-Bike is fantastic for some of our residents with mobility issues. Well done to everyone for securing the funding.”
Tracey Lawson, chairman of the residents’ association added: “Thank you to everyone involved in the National Lottery funding application process to secure this new, and much-valued equipment. This bike is going to make a big difference for many of our residents who want to keep active but aren’t able to use a traditional exercise bike.”
