CAR dealer Halliwell Jones is seeking planning permission to carry on using open land off Hopwood Street and Grey Street, Warrington for storing up to 150 cars.

Their application, which will be considered by the borough council’s development management committee on Thursday also seek permission to retain CCTV cameras and street lighting columns on the site.
Officers are recommending the scheme be approved for two years and there have been no objections from nearby residents.
The land is owned by Warrington Borough Council and was at one time used as part of the School Brow Depot. Temporary planning consent for storing cars was first granted in April 2019.
A report to the committee states that Halliwell Jones require use of the land because their premises on Winwick Road and Ireland Street cannot accommodate the number of cars they need to process.
It is anticipated that a maximum of 70-80 vehicles will be stored on the site, with about 15-20 vehicle movements a day.
Vehicles are delivered to and from the site by a flatbed car transporter.
Officers say the proposal will result in a short term solution to support an existing business without detriment to highway safety or the visual amenity of nearby residents.
