Victory for Warrington – but not enough to avoid relegation

WARRINGTON won their last match of the season in the RSK Cheshire County League – but it was not enough to save them from relegation.
It was a low-scoring affair at bottom club Davenham and it meant both clubs will play in the second division next year.
The home side were dismissed for 115 with Umer Zeb taking 3-12. Then Warrington knocked off the runs for the loss of five wickets. Jonathan Fletcher led the way, as he had done all season, with 37.
Further up the division one table, Grappenhall went down by four wickets at Urmston.
Asked to bat first, Grappers hit 170-8, opener Ian Hall top scoring with 54..
Sam Guest and Stanley Pennington took two wickets each but the home side reached their target with four wickets and plenty of overs to spare.
It was a disappointing end to the season for Grappers who had started with high hopes of winning promotion back to the premier division. In the end they finished seventh in the table.
