One more COVID-19 related death and 96 new cases as infection rates and inpatient numbers rise

ONE more COVID-19 related death has been reported at Warrington hospital and inpatient numbers have risen as infections rates have increased with 96 new cases confirmed in the town.

The 96 (98) new cases, take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 27,239 (27,143).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen, to 609 (583) – 290.8 (278.4) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which is below the national average of 351.9 (355.4) per 100,000, which have fallen slightly.
Hospital inpatient numbers have risen from 25-29 while two patients have been discharged.

Meanwhile, across the UK 121 more coronavirus-related deaths and 42,076 cases have been reported in the latest 24-hour period. Today’s cases figure is the highest since 21 July, when there were 44,104 reported. The latest seven-day average for deaths is 114, far below the peak of the second wave in January when it reached more than 1,200.
New Public Health England data has revealed Aalmost three-quarters of people under 50 who needed hospital treatment for the COVID Delta variant last week in England were unvaccinated.
The Data showed 9,472 people were admitted to hospital with the highly transmissible coronavirus variant in the seven days up to 29 August. Of this number, 5,098 were below the age of 50 and 4,374 were aged 50 or over.
Of the 5,098 under-50s, 3,742 (73%) were unvaccinated, 724 (14%) had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 521 (10%) had received both doses. Among the 4,374 aged 50 or over, 1,322 (30%) were unvaccinated, 372 (9%) had received one dose of vaccine, and 2,651 (61%) had been given their second jab.

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Friday, September 3 2021 was 121 (178), taking the total number of deaths to 133,041 (132,920).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 42,076 (38,154), taking the total number to 6,904,696 (6,862,904).
Across the country, there are 7,541 (7,596) patients currently in hospital and 1,038 (1,030) on ventilation.
