COVID-19 infection rates continue to fall while new cases show signs of being on the increase

WHILE COVID-19 infection rates have fallen for a seventh consecutive day in Warrington, new cases are showing signs of starting to rise again, with 115 in the latest data from Public Health England.

Another four inpatients have been discharged from Warrington & Halton Hospitals since yesterday, while inpatient numbers are down slightly to 24, with five still in intensive care.



The 115 (97) new COVID-19 cases reported takes the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 23,727 (23,612).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again to 901 (975) – 429 (464.3) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– but still above the national average of 353.5 (376.5) per 100,000, which has also fallen.
Meanwhile, the number of new COVID-19 cases recorded in the UK has risen for a second day following seven days of falls.
A total of 31,117 infections have been reported in the latest 24-hour period, along with 85 further deaths.
The figures compare with 27,734 cases and 91 deaths announced yesterday.
Last Thursday, the UK reported 39,906 cases and 84 more deaths related to the virus.

There are also 5 long-term COVID-related inpatients at the hospital.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 486 (486) 231.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 193.9.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 570 (570).

Across the country, there are 6,034 (6,021) patients currently in hospital and 853 (848) on ventilation.
