COVID-19 infection rates fall slightly in Warrington for first time in almost two weeks

COVID-19 infection rates have fallen slightly for the first time in Warrington in almost two weeks with 120 new cases reported in the town in the latest data from Public Health England.

The last time they fell slightly was on June 13 although that was the first fall since early May and lasted just one day before rates started to increase rapidly.
While one hospital patient has been discharged in the last 24 hours, the number of patients in intensive care has reduced from 8-6.



The 120 (183) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 23,133 (23,013).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen slightly, with 1,418 (1,433) – 675.2 (682.3) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– but still well above the national average of 497.1 (488) per 100,000, which continues to rise.

Meanwhile, the number of new COVID-19 cases in the UK has fallen for the third day in a row, although they do not include figures for Wales.
There have been 36,389 new cases and 64 more coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
The number of infections is down by around 15,000 compared with this time last week.
