Two more COVID-19 related deaths and 147 new cases as infection rates continue to rise

TWO more COVID-19 patients have sadly died at Warrington Hospital over the weekend with another 147 cases reported in the latest data from Public Health England as infection rates continue to rise.

With a total of 13 patients discharged over the weekend, inpatient numbers of fallen from 22-16 with three in intensive care.



The 147 (238) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 22,508 (22,361).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 1,131 (1,004) – 538.5 (497.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– well above the national average of 399.6 (376.1) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 39,950 new COVID cases and 19 more coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
Another 18,186 people had their first jab on Sunday, taking the UK total to 46,314,039 and a further 128,878 had their second jab yesterday, meaning 36,099,727 are now fully vaccinated.
*According to the government’s chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance says 60 percent of people being admitted to hospital with COVID-19 have had two doses of a coronavirus vaccine,
Speaking at today’s Downing Street news briefing, he said: “In terms of the number of people in hospital who’ve been double vaccinated, we know it’s around 60% of the people being admitted to hospital with COVID.” *He later corrected his statement saying it was false and should have been 60pc of people in hospital had NOT been vaccinated!

Current inpatients as of Monday, July 19 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 16 (22) including 3 (4) in ICU.

There are also 5 long-term COVID-related inpatients at the hospital.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 484 (484) 230.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 192.7.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 568 (568).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Monday, July 19 2021 was 19 (25), taking the total number of deaths to 128,727 (128,708).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 39,950 (48,161), taking the total number to 5,473,477 (5,433,939).
Across the country, there are 4,094 (3,964) patients currently in hospital and 573 (551) on ventilation.
