More than 3,000 school pupils self-isolating as 238 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warrington

A total of 238 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Warrington, the highest number since January 5, while more than 3,000 pupils are currently at home self-isolating.

While another four patients have been discharged from Warrington & Halton Hospitals, the total number of inpatients has remained at 22 with four in intensive care.
A total of 3,123 school pupils are also now self isolating from 63 schools.



The 238 (200) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 21,903 (21,665).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 950 (884) – 452.4 (420.9) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– well above the national average of 344.8 (336.7) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the UK has reported 51,870 new COVID-19 cases in the latest 24-hour period – the highest number since 15 January, according to government figures.
Some 49 deaths were also confirmed during the same period.
It comes just days before the government is expected to ease all social distancing restrictions and mask-wearing rules in England, despite opposition from many medical experts.

Current inpatients as of Friday, July 16 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 22 (22) including 4 (5) in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 484 (484) 230.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 192.6.
