One more COVID-19 death as new cases reach six month high at 200

ONE more COVID-19 related death has sadly been reported at Warrington hospital, while 200 new cases have been confirmed in the town, the highest number since early January.

While another five patients have been discharged, the total number of inpatients has increased from 21-22 with five in intensive care. Nearly 3,000 school pupils are also now self isolating from 65 schools.



The 200 (179) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 21,665 (21,407).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 884 (878) – 420.9 (418.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– well above the national average of 336.7 (329.9) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the UK has reported another 48,553 new COVID-19 infections – the largest number for exactly six months.
The last time there was a higher figure – 55,761 – was on 15 January. But there has been a huge increase in testing since then.
A further 63 fatalities have also been reported within 28 days of a positive test.
It is the highest number of deaths since 26 March, when there were 70.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 484 (484) 230.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 192.5.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 568 (568).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Thursday, July 15 2021 was 63 (49), taking the total number of deaths to 128,593 (128,530).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 48,553 (42,302), taking the total number to 5,281,098 (5,233,207).
Across the country, there are 3,786 (3,615) patients currently in hospital and 545 (522) on ventilation.

  1. I shudder to think of what will happen after Monday. I’m no fan of Sturgeon but believe she and Wales are perfectly right in keeping masks as mandatory. I really can’t see hospital admissions and deaths staying as low compared to new cases. The Netherlands has seen a 500% increase in cases since relaxing restrictions.
