First COVID-19 deaths confirmed since April, as infection rates continue to rise with 124 new cases

TWO COVID-19 related deaths have sadly been confirmed at Warrington Hospital, the first since April, while another 124 new cases have been confirmed in the town, as infection rates continue to rise.

The number of COVID-19 related inpatients at Warrington Hospital has also risen from 11-13 while there are also five “long COVID” inpatients still being cared for at the hospital.



The 124 (97) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 20,332 (20,208).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 734 (700) – 349.5 (333.3) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– still well above the national average of 244.3 (229.9) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.

  1. Not what we’d want to hear but given the relaxations, we have to expect some increase in hospitalisations and sadly, deaths. Let’s just hope that people behave responsibly once restrictions are lifted in a couple of weeks. I personally feel that masks should have been retained as a restriction on public transport and indoor venues, at least for another month to allow a more controlled exit from restrictions rather than a “big bang”. Let’s give the NHS a break and ease our way back to normality.
