ORFORD Pharmacy is urging Warrington residents to get vaccinated as soon as possible due to rising rates in the town which are double the national average.
The pharmacy, which runs a vaccination centre at Warrington Islamic Associations’ premises in Bewsey, is encouraging all eligible people to book their vaccinations to help decrease rates of Covid-19 across Warrington.
With those aged 18 and over now able to make their appointments, almost everyone in the country is on track to receive their first jab so long as everyone does their part to protect
themselves.
Vaccinations are especially crucial with new variants cropping up with higher transmission rates, even among those previously vaccinated.
The latest figures show that Warrington’s Covid-19 rates have risen to 159 transmissions for every 100,000 people – double that of the previous week. 58% of all adults have received both jabs,
while 23% still haven’t received their first dose.
This leaves large amounts of the population still vulnerable to contracting the virus – especially when nearly 400 cases of the Delta variant have been recorded in Warrington, responsible for
around 92% of cases.
Warrington’s Director of Public Health, Thara Raj, said: “There’s no denying the effectiveness of the vaccine rollout in Warrington, but the Delta Covid-19 variant is spreading rapidly and is the dominant strain in Warrington.”
