AN office building at Daresbury Park near Warrington was evacuated this morning following reports of a burning smell.

At 8.50am this morning two fire engines, one from Runcorn and one from Warrington, atended reports of a smell of burning and a smoke alarm sounding at a business building in Daresbury Park, Daresbury.

The building was evacuated and firefighters inspected it with a thermal imaging camera, looking for hotspots.
They found no signs of fire and traced the source of the burning smell to a battery pack within a computer server.
It is believed to have overheated.
The electricity supply to the server was isolated by office staff.
Firefighters inspected a void above a false ceiling with a thermal imaging camera.
Once they were satisfied that the building was safe firefighters left the premises.
They were in attendance for around half-an-hour.
