No new deaths as COVID-19 infection rates fall in Warrington and PM confirms next stage of lockdown easing

NO new COVID-19 related deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital over the weekend with infection rates falling in the town, as the UK alert level moves from 4 to 3 and Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirms the next stage of easing lockdown.

As Warrington recorded seven new cases in the latest data from Public Health England from next Monday (May 17) the roadmap out of lockdown,confirmed by Mr Johnson today, will mean Care home residents will be allowed five regular visitors and greater freedoms to make low-risk visits outside of their home.



In secondary schools and colleges, pupils will no longer be required to wear face coverings in classrooms and communal areas.
The ban on international travel will end and people will be free to travel to green list countries.
People will be able to meet outdoors in groups of up to 30 people, and indoors in groups of up to six or as two households.
Pubs, restaurants and bars will be able to reopen indoors, with groups of up to six people or two households to a table.
Indoor entertainment will also resume with the reopening of cinemas, museums and children’s play areas.
Theatres, concert halls, conference centres and stadiums can all reopen, with larger events at reduced capacity.
Organised adult sport and exercise classes can restart indoors, but a decision is yet to be made on saunas and steam rooms.
Hotels, hostels and B&Bs can reopen, with overnight stays allowed within the UK in groups of up to six people or two households.
Weddings, receptions and other life events can take place with up to 30 people.
People will also have the choice on whether to socially distance with close family or friends or not.
But people will be urged to remain cautious about the risks that come with close personal contact such as hugging, as this is a way the virus spreads.
The limit on numbers attending funerals will be removed in line with how many people can be safely accommodated in venues.
Meanwhile, The 7 (2) new cases in Warrington in the latest 24-hour daily update from Public Health England, means the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since the start of the pandemic is now 17,922 (17,915).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days were 34 (41) – 16.2 (19.5) per 100,000 population, showing a decrease over a seven-day period. This compares to the national rate of 21.1 (21.5) per 100,000.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 486 (485) 231.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 191.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is now 565 (565).
