POLICE in Lymm are urging parents in the village to check who their children have been with following reports of large groups gathering in the village, breaching COVID-19 restrictions.

Local beat officers said they had been receiving calls about large groups congregating in the village on Friday.
In a post on social media they issued a message to parents in the village.

Parents of Lymm youths, do you know where your child is tonight?
We are already receiving calls about large groups of youths congregating around the village in breach of Covid restrictions.
Please make sure you know who they have been with. Prevent the spread.”

Similar issues have been reported in other areas across Warrington, including Appleton, where a dispersal order was put in place last night – which gives police powers to move people on.
As of Thursday no fines had been issued by police in Warrington involving youths congregating, although a woman has since been fined £1,000 for failing to quarantine on return from a Greek holiday island.
