WARRINGTON Youth Club is on the shortlist to win a share of Persimmon Homes’ Building Futures £1 million pot supporting under-18s nationwide – but first they need online votes to win.

Persimmon Homes North West is backing Warrington Youth Club to be a prize winner at a gala dinner in October, where cash awards of £100,000, £50,000 or £20,000 will be made to those winning the most online votes.
Dave McNicholl, Chief Executive of Warrington Youth Club said: “It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to win such an incredible amount of money. This will change the lives of so many young people in Warrington so please, please get behind us and vote for Warrington Youth Club!”

Winning would allow the Club to enhance and develop its Buddy Up programme and benefit many more young people with additional needs, ranging from outdoor cinema experiences, a new ‘Travel Club’ to help young people develop independent travelling skills and visit different cities, and a ‘Buddy Up Life Skills’ programme to acquire skills such as budgeting, meal preparation, and an introduction to the world of work.
Nuvvie Sbia, Warrington Youth Club’s Buddy Up Coordinator, said: “Winning the prize would be amazing and allow us to substantially increase the number of young people we can support, developing their life skills and independence, and offering them new activities that we have so far been unable to offer.”
Dave added: “Voting could not be simpler. Just log on to www.persimmonhomes.com/building-futures/ and select Warrington Youth Club and vote for us. We would really appreciate everyone’s support. You can make one vote per day so don’t forget to keep showing your support for Warrington’s young people!”

Building Futures is being delivered through the Persimmon Charitable Foundation. Through the scheme, a total of 128 grants of £1,000 have already been awarded to groups supporting sport, education & arts and health across Persimmon’s 31 regional businesses and its head office.

  1. This tells us nothing about why Warrington Youth club is more worthy of the prize than any other youth club in the North West or indeed anywhere. At the moment this is little better than asking for fake reviews to be put on web sites.

If all local papers make the same sort of pleas then the winner will inevitably be the one with the biggest local readership. That will not be a reflection of any sort of performance or deserving qualities, merely one of of population size.
