Church Rector left distressed after thieves steal York Stone paving slabs

A CHURCH Rector has been left distressed after thieves stole a large number of valuable York stone paving slabs from St Mary’s Church, Lymm.
The heavy slabs were taken from the front pathway from the lytch gate and from around the back of the church. The theft has been reported to police.
It is believed the theft happened at around 9.20pm yesterday, May 5.
Police will analyse CCTV footgae but if anyone has any information or witnessed any activity at St Mary’s Church from around 9.00pm – 10.00pm please report it to the police, quoting incident number IML698656
Church Rector Reverend Beverley Jameson said: ” They are heavy and expensive slabs and the path has been destroyed.
“I hope someone noticed them being loaded onto a vehicle I can’t tell you how distressed I am and how distressed familes are when they visit the graves of their loved ones at St Mary’s.
“It is a dispicable act! ”

  1. I know church roof lead was always a fair target according to the popular “myth” but paving stones?

    Honestly some cowboy builder must be responsible for this. It is not as if they can be weighed in for scrap as such so must be intended to complete a job somewhere.
