FIVE more people have sadly died at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for the Covid-19 virus, taking the death toll in the town to 52, with the number of confirmed cases now totalling 408.

The Hospital Trust confirmed yesterday (Friday) that so far 106 people have recovered while they are currently caring for 113 patients. So far they have tested 1,292 people.
Meanwhile across the country the latest daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths in hospital was 888 with 5,526 new lab-confirmed cases.
The total number of people who have now sadly died in hospital is 15,464 with 114,217 confirmed cases.
The figures do not include those who have died in care homes, while many more people have not been tested and are self isolating.

Meanwhile Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick says he has made it clear to councils that all parks must remain open.
“There have been some parks around the country closing. This cannot be right,” he said. “We know the lockdown is much harder for people who don’t have much living space. People need parks.”
He also said people must be allowed to attend funerals of their loved ones after hearing reports some councils had been banning bereaved families from funeral services.
He also announced during the Government’s daiy briefing that a “very large consignment” of PPE is expected to arrive in the UK tomorrow, including 400,000 protective gowns for frontline health workers.
Mr Jenrick also said the Government was increasingly confident that there would be sufficient ventilator capacity in the NHS.

  1. Gary, thanks for giving the most complete set of data so far to give us a picture of what is happening. I am curious about the missing status of 137 folks: 408 tested -52 dead -106 recovered -113 in hospital = 137 missing. The numbers are always changing but 1/3rd of all positive cases missing as to outcome is intriguing, did the hospital give any explanation?

    • May be 137 people who have tested positive have been well enough to return home while they continue recovery but still not been given the all clear would seem a simple explanation?. I don’t think for one minute anyone is trying to hide anything and as you say the figures are changing constantly and are probably only the tip of the iceberg.

      • Thanks Gary. I had hoped that was the answer but I just wanted to check with you. I didn’t think that they were trying to hide anything but I just wanted to understand the recovery rate because this is the only data that gives any insight at all into that, the UK wide data is not up to date. The latest numbers after these for Warrington seem to jump and that may be as a result of including NHS workers and Care Home staff so the community transmission trend is obscured by the lack of like for like data from now on.
