WARRINGTON Wolves winger Tom Lineham has been struck down by coronavirus.

Lineham, 28, revealed that his partner, who works on the frontline at Wigan hospital, contracted the virus while at work and brought it home.

He has been suffering for the past week, and is still experiencing some symptoms.

Speaking on the club’s YouTube channel, he said: “I’ve had the virus. It’s got me.

“My Mrs, she’s on the frontline, works at Wigan hospital. She contracted the virus and brought it home. So, for a week, we’ve been fighting it off.

“I’ve felt like Ive been hit like a bus, I’ve had all the symptoms. Fever, blowing hot one minute and then freezing cold the next.

“I felt like the dogs were sitting on my chest, breathing difficulties. Aching, head to toe, and now I’ve lost all sense of smell and taste.

“I’ve been out of action for a week. With the lockdown, I had a pretty good routine before that. But the virus got me, so I’m trying to fight that off and come out on the other side.

“Stay safe, look after your loved ones, your family, be the best versions of yourself and we’ll all get through this together. Stay strong.”

The rugby league season has been suspended since March 16, with Warrington’s last game coming with a 38-4 win over Hull on March 12.

There are no indications yet as to when resuming play will be possible, with a number of theories being discussed regarding a shortened season – including scrapping Magic Weekend, loop fixtures and the end of season Ashes series.
