MAYOR of Warrington Cllr Wendy Johnson came to the aid of a rescue cat which went missing from home for more than two weeks.
Rebekah Alcock and her daughter six-year-old daughter Imogen Kent from Latchford, recently rehomed a special cat called Rhubarb who had been severely neglected from Warrington Animal Welfare.
But Rhubarb was spooked by a car back firing and ran off and went missing for more than two weeks.
A spokesperson for Warrington Animal Welfare said: “We had been frantically searching for her ever since. We then received messages from the Mayor of Warrington Wendy Johnson to say she thought she had found our elderly Rhubarb.
“Wendy very kindly spent hours trying to coax Rhubarb out from underneath parked cars after noticing her looking for food for a few days.
“With much patience and even more cheese she managed to grab Rhubarb and get her to the safety of her home where she sat up all night with her comforting a very hungry and frightened Rhubarb.
We collected Rhubarb this morning and have now reunited her with her family. We are so grateful to our Mayor for helping this lovely older cat be returned to safety.”
Meanwhile Warrington Animal Welfare urgently needs support during the Coronavirus crisis.
