Coronavirus claims second victim at Warrington Hospital

A 71-year-old man with underlying health issues has become the second Coronavirus-related death at Warrington Hospital.

A hospital spokesperson said: “We can confirm that sadly, a 71-year old male patient has passed away at Warrington Hospital on 27th March 2020. The patient had tested positive for COVID-19 and had an underlying health condition.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“The Trust, Dept of Health & Social Care, NHS England and NHS Improvement will not be giving out any further information on these patients.”

The first confirmed coronavirus-related death in Warrington involved a 59-year-old man with underlying health issues who had tested positive for covid-19 and died in Warrington Hospital on Thursday (March 19).

While there have been two confirmed deaths and 21 confirmed cases, Warrington still remains one of the least infected areas in the country.

  • The number of confirmed cases reported in Warrington as of Monday March 30th was 22.
