Firefighters kept busy

FIREFIGHTERS were kept busy tackling several outbreaks of fire across Warrington today, involving garden sheds, gas canisters at allotments and garden refuse.

Just before noon two crews, one from Warrington and one from Penketh were called to Longleat Close in Warrington, following reports that two sheds and a fence were on fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a covering jet to put out the fire.

They were in attendance for approximately 50 minutes.

Then just after 1pm one fire engine from Warrington was called to a fire involving LPG canisters at allotments of Longshaw Street, Warrington.

Crews set up a ground monitor and a cordon. They then extinguished the fire and used a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature of the cylinders until they were deemed safe.

Then just before 2pm One fire engine from Stockton Heath attended a fire involving leaves and hedgerow at an address in Longwood Road, Warrington. Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
