THE Derian House Children’s Hospice has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Warrington.
Derian House has been helping seriously ill children and their families from across the North West for more than 25 years. The charity helps children with life-limiting illnesses and their families to create happy memories to last a lifetime, giving children and young people respite stays in a fun environment, giving families a much-needed rest. End-of-life care and bereavement support are also provided whenever they are needed.
The charity received the donation following a vote from the Amazon Warrington team.
Prashant Pandey, Site Leader at Amazon Warrington, said: “It is a great privilege to support Derian House Children’s Charity. It has a special place in the hearts of team members here and we hope it can be used to bring joy to children and families that need it. Our team had a wonderful time with the volunteers during the visit.”
Caroline Taylor, Communications and Marketing Manager at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “It costs £4.3million every year to run vital services at Derian House, and yet we receive less than 10 per cent of this from the government. For the remainder we rely heavily on the generosity of our supporters and that’s why we are so incredibly grateful to the team at Amazon Warrington for choosing us to support. Their kind donation will make a real difference to our children and young people.”
The donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across UK.
