THE Christmas Tree Festival at Lymm’s St Mary’s Church will this year also host the launch of a very special book.
Monty and Bertie to the rescue tells how the church mouse and church bat rescue St Mary’s.
It has been written by a member of the congregation, Vanessa Lees and illustrated by Graham Edgar.
At just £2 it is a great stocking filler for children young and old and all profits go towards St Mary’s Church.
People have also been busy making toy bats and nice to sell as well.
There will be about 46 Christmas Trees on display with little mice keeping watch and a “mouse trail” to see if you can find them.
The festival takes place o Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 6-8 and also on sale will be homemade preserves, and Christmas cakes, presents and decorations. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be available in the Festival Café throughout the weekend, with soup and sandwiches served on Saturday and Sunday between 12 noon and 2pm.
Local choirs will perform each day – Friday, Lymm primary schools, Saturday 12noon Lymm Golf Club Ladies Ukulele Band, 2pm Lymm and District Chorus,  3.30pm   Lymm High School Brass Band.

The Christmas Tree Festival take place 10am -4pm Friday December 6, 10am –4pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm.
Rector the Rev Bev Jameson, who is also Chaplain to the Royal British Legion Lymm and district branch, said: “The book is wonderful and great fun, we are so grateful to Vanessa and Graham, although there is rather a scary drawing of me in it! Our handmade bats and mice are just gorgeous. Do come along and enjoy the fine food and great entertainment at our Christmas Tree Festival”
Vanessa Lees, author of the book said “At a meeting in church I was amused by spotting a real mouse popping his head round to look at us. I started thinking about the secret life of our church mice and bats and invented Monty and Bertie. I hope people enjoy their Christmas rescue mission as much as I enjoyed writing about them”
