“Warrington pupils losing out” Says MP

Warrington North MP Helen Jones has criticised the government for the amount of pupil funding spent on each student over 16.

Since the current funding formula was introduced by the Tory/LibDem coalition government in 2013 the average funding per student in Warrington has fallen from £4,547 (2013/14) to £4,383 (2018/19).

Ms Jones said: “This government is failing to invest in our children’s future. The fact that in the six years since the formula was introduced the amount paid per student has actually fallen is quite staggering. In fact the most paid in any year was made in the first year of the scheme.

“Our children deserve better than this. The government is failing to invest in their future and this is another example of them not caring about places like Warrington.”
