The legendary rock band are heading to town in June with a spectacular concert. Since their debut album Kingdom of Madness in 1978, the Birmingham band has enjoyed a surge in popularity, regularly breaching the top 40 singles and album charts in the 80s and 90s. The 1982 album Chase the Dragon was the first to hit the Top 20 but it was the 1988 album Wings of Heaven which catapulted the band into new realms of success, reaching the top 5 in the UK chart. Expect to hear Days of No Trust, Start Talking Love and It Must Have Been Love.

Comedy – Rich Hall’s Hoedown – Friday 21st June 2019 (8pm)

If you’ve only ever seen Hall on TV, you’ve short-changed yourself. The Hoedown begins as a withering dissection of Trump’s America but ends up being a celebration of Americana. This one day music festival at the 5,000-capacity Bank Park will bring the sounds of Manchester’s biggest bands to one of Warrington’s most iconic locations. Hugely popular Stone Roses tribute band The Clone Roses are taking the headline slot with Oas-is, The Smiths Ltd, Appy Mundays, The James Experience, The Courtbetweeners and The Verve Experience also taking the stage. “Mr Manchester” himself Clint Boon will be spinning the tunes on the day alongside host and compere DJ Dave Sweetmore.

Variety – Interviews with a Serial Killer – Saturday 29th June 2019 (8pm)

NOW / Fear of the Unknown

Saturday 6 April – Saturday 15 June 2019

NOW / Fear of the Unknown is a group exhibition of new work by final year students at Warrington and Vale Royal College.  Taking Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror as their starting point for inspiration, the work explores the pressures that are put on students either by society or themselves at this point in their artistic and academic careers.  Subjects explored include self-identity and social conformity, while the work on display combines traditional and non-traditional media including interactive installations.

Alice Cornelia: Back Now

Saturday 13 April – Saturday 22 June 2019

Back Now is a new solo exhibition by Alice Cornelia, following her highly commended award in the 2018 Warrington Contemporary Open exhibition. Back Now explores mediums of social representation with the aim of exposing gaps in our visual information. The body of work questions boundaries between documentary and fiction, with a playful relationship between representation and abstraction and between moving image and the still image.

Crafternoons!

Saturdays 1pm – 3pm

Get messy with free craft activities for children at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery. Crafternoons take place between 1pm and 3pm every Saturday and have a new and exciting theme every single week. Last admission is 2.45pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult, recommended age 3yrs+. Booking is not required. Visit the museum’s social media pages to see some of the fun things we’ve made recently.
