WARRINGTON Town will go in search of their first home goals and a win tonight when Workington visit Cantilever Park.
The Yellows thumped North Ferriby 5-0 at the weekend to lay down a marker for the season, but have failed to score in their two home games so far – a goalless draw with Stalybridge Celtic and a 2-0 defeat on the opening day by Farsley Celtic.
Paul Carden’s side sit fifth in what looks like being an extremely competitive Evo-Stik Premier League this term.
The manager said: “It’s important to do what you’re doing both home and away. We’ve got a way we play and when we stick to it we’re good, wherever we play.
“We had a great win in our last game so it’s about kicking on now. I said to the lads in the dressing room we’ve started now, but it’s far from finished, we’ve got to maintain and better what we’ve done today.”
Saturday’s win was all the more impressive when you look at the talent Carden had on the sidelines. Injured skipper James McCarten was joined by the likes of Robbie Evans, Jack Dunn and Luke George.
Evans and Dunn are both expected to be back in contention for Tuesday night’s game, while Carden was pleased to finally get the long-standing episode with David Raven and Jack Mackreth’s international clearance behind them.
He added: “We should have Robbie and Jack back, Luke might still be a little too soon for him, but we don’t have to rush that, he’s not played since February and we’ve played him more than we had to because we were waiting on Dave (Raven).
“It’s important not to rush anyone back but it’s a good headache to have.”
