Dunn injury adds to Yellows frustration ahead of Bamber Bridge trip

WARRINGTON Town winger Jack Dunn is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s draw against Stalybridge Celtic.

Dunn, 23, was a close season signing from Tranmere but pulled up 39 minutes in to the game after chasing back 60 yards and committing a foul.

It leaves Town boss Paul Carden down to the bare bones for the Bank Holiday Monday trip to Bamber Bridge, with just 15 senior players available.

Carden said: “You don’t want to see anyone come off injured, you want your substitutions to be tactical.

“He’s had hamstring problems in the past, so we’ll have to wait and see how it settles down.

“It’s going to take time for him to get used to the level and how we play and the position we’re asking him to play, but he got stronger as the game went on on Tuesday.

“It’s disappointing he’s going to have a little spell on the sidelines, hopefully it’s not too bad and he’s not out for too long.”

The news has done little to curb Carden’s frustration at the continuing delay with international clearance for two of his main summer signings – Wrexham pair David Raven and Jack Mackreth.

It is now almost a month since Raven’s paperwork was submitted, and they have now had to sit out the first three home games, with nothing likely to change before Monday.

Carden added: “We’ll go in to the game with what we’ve got unless a miracle happens and the Welsh FA pull their fingers out.

“In this day and age, with everything done on PC and email, it’s a joke it takes so long and we’ve got two lads who can’t play.”

The Yellows named the same starting line-up against Stalybridge as played against Lancaster in midweek.

The only change to the 16 was the inclusion of Shaun Beeley in place of goalkeeping coach James Speare.

Liam Hynes and Adam Carden were unused substitutes on Saturday so are likely to get more minutes on Monday, though Hynes is still returning to match fitness after almost a year on the sidelines with an ACL injury suffered a couple of games in to last season.

After Monday’s trip to newly-promoted Bamber Bridge (3pm), the Yellows travel to North Ferriby United, a team they beat during their famous FA Cup run back in 2014, on Saturday (3pm).
