Junior Gym sessions prove a big hit

LIVEWIRE’S Junior Gym sessions have proved to be a great success at the new state-of-the-art fitness suite at Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub with over 150 young people, aged between 11 and 15 years of age, visiting the fitness suite every week.

This is an increase of more than five times the number of young people that attended the old fitness suite.

The new fitness suite was opened in February  and was part of a multi-million project to transform the existing leisure centre into an integrated facility which provides a one-stop-shop for leisure, health, wellbeing and culture.

The building’s new state-of-the-art fitness suite has been kitted out with the latest equipment including Watt bikes, Technogym Skill mills and Climbs as well as Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) equipment that can safely be used by our younger visitors.

Vicki Dunning, Operations Manager, said “Young people have lots of demands on their time, so they can find it hard to be active. But physical activity keeps teenage bodies and minds fit and healthy.  We’re really pleased that young people in Great Sankey are using the new equipment regularly.

“We’ve invested a lot of time and resource getting the fit-out of the fitness suite just right, with high-end technology and state-of-the-art equipment throughout. It’s all part of our drive to ensure our visitors have access to the latest fitness equipment and technology. ”

Kev Forester, Commercial Manager at LiveWire, said:  “We are delighted that so many local young people are using LiveWire’s gym facilities. Getting young people into the routine of exercising increases the likelihood that they will grow up to value healthy living and stay active.

“As with anyone new to the gym, a full induction must be competed, giving them everything they need to know to get started in the gym.

“During the induction we will help to set clear goals and guide the youngsters through the safe and effective use of the gym equipment.  Once this has been carried out they can attend as many sessions as they wish!”

“Fully qualified Junior Gym instructors are on hand to not only ensure that people exercise safely but will also be able to provide guidance on how they can develop their gym programme with confidence.”

LiveWire runs over 60 Junior Gym sessions at locations across Warrington each week, and a Junior Gym instructor is on hand throughout each session.

Due to the popularity of these sessions they strongly advise that people book a place to make sure they don’t miss out!
